Ethical Tagging System
We launched our Ethical Tagging System in 2021 to better understand the impact of our products on the world. This unique system provides customers with transparent, reliable information to support purchasing decisions and lets us scrutinise each product closely. This way, we only list items that fit our values and can track areas where we need to improve.
Each product page includes a summary of each ethical tag to help you understand how we ethically source that product. These tags assess how responsible the materials used are, how sustainable the packaging is, and the efforts suppliers employ to support the people involved in the production process.
We base our assessment on information from our suppliers, which we rigorously review and question. Committed to responsible production, many of our products come from workshops or factories with third-party certifications for sustainable materials, fair pay, and working conditions, which we list on each product page.
Our commitment to a more sustainable future goes beyond the Ethical Tagging System. Through education, transparency, and open conversations, we aim to empower you to make informed, conscious choices that benefit both people and the planet.
However, we don't call ourselves a fully sustainable business—because we're not. For example, we source new products, while reselling pre-owned items would be more sustainable. Some of our products are shipped from overseas, which adds to our carbon footprint, though we work to minimise this impact. Instead of claiming to be perfect, we're focused on becoming a more sustainable option, step by step.
Why are we telling you this? Because we believe in transparency. While we're proud of our efforts, we want to highlight where we could improve. In recent years, many businesses have misled consumers by branding themselves as fully sustainable, and we refuse to do that. If we aim to educate consumers about overconsumption or greenwashing, we cannot contribute to those issues ourselves.
